Who we are
Apocalypse Cruise is made by Sierra Pines Studio LLC, USA ("we"). For anything about your data, email support@SierraPinesStudio1.onmicrosoft.com.
The short version
We collect as little as we can. No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we never ask for your email, real name, age or payment details. Online play runs on Epic Online Services. Chat and voice are not stored.
What we use, and why
Saved on your own computer only. Your settings, save game, achievement progress, stored cars, the players you've blocked, and (if you use the Stream / Gifts feature) your stream settings, including your own YouTube API key. Log files the game writes for troubleshooting stay on your computer too. We can't see any of it. Uninstalling the game and deleting its folder removes it.
Online play (through Epic Online Services, run by Epic Games, Inc.).
- An anonymous ID for your device, so you can host and join games. If you choose to sign in with your Epic Games account, we use your Epic account ID and display name instead.
- Co-op games: the join code and the game version.
- Achievements and four lifetime stats (zombies killed, players killed, deaths, distance driven), so they follow your account.
- If you're signed in: your stored cars and volume settings, saved to your Epic account so they're there on any PC.
- Player reports: when you report someone, we receive the reason, their player name, your note and their most recent chat lines, so we can review it.
Shared with the other players in your game. Your player name, your chat messages, your voice (live only, never recorded) and your Epic ID. To connect you, your internet (IP) address can be visible to the other players' computers when Epic connects you directly; the game never displays it.
Steam version. The game reads your Steam name and ID on your computer and sends achievements to Steam (Valve Corporation).
Legal basis (EU / UK)
We use this data to provide the game and the online features you choose to use (contract), and to keep online play safe by handling reports, blocks and abuse (our legitimate interest in a safe game).
Who else gets it
Only the services that run the game: Epic Games, Inc. (online services; see Epic's privacy policy) and, for the Steam version, Valve Corporation. We don't sell or share your data with anyone else, and there's no advertising. These companies are in the USA; they protect EU data with the safeguards EU law requires (such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses).
How long we keep it
- On your computer: until you delete it.
- With Epic: for as long as you play, or until you ask us to delete it.
- Reports: as long as needed to review them and keep online play safe, and at most 12 months after we've dealt with them.
Your rights
You can ask us to see, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing support@SierraPinesStudio1.onmicrosoft.com. In the EU/UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. You can turn chat off (Options > Gameplay), use push-to-talk or turn voice off (Options > Audio), and mute or block any player (Esc > Players).
Children
The game is rated PEGI 16 and ESRB Teen. We don't ask for anyone's age and don't collect more from children than from anyone else. Parents can turn off chat and voice in Options, and can email us to delete their child's data.
Changes
If we change what the game collects, we'll update this page before the update comes out and change the date at the top.
